How to complete every task with maximum focus clarity.

Did you ever have a project and had to focus on it and couldn't? Keep getting distracted by 100 things at the time. Probably this sound familiar to a lot of us. So do not worry, you are not alone.

Let me brighten your day, we can all have laser-sharp focus if we practised enough. The key is to focus daily on your project just for 45 minutes and you will achieve a lot more than having long sessions from time to time.

We had made some research and read the book Powerful Focus: A 7-Day Plan to Develop Mental Clarity and Build Strong Focus by Thibaut Meurisse. Is an excellent book on how to improve your productivity and focus in the digital era.

Here is what we learned from this book:

Same place, same time every day.

These simple routines will strengthen your neuronal pathways and will accentuate this behaviour. For example, the famous writer Stephen King, will sit at his desk every day at the same time and will write. He mentions that not always will have inspiration, however, he will still write and this will help him immerse in the work and the inspiration will come sooner than late.

We recommend you do the same routine, choose a place and time you can focus on your project and just start doing it.

Being productive is nothing else than focusing on one task every day and being consistent with your goals.

Choose a trigger to help you start your work.

My trigger is placing my cup of coffee on my desk. Once you will establish your routine and the time and place you want your work to take place you will need a trigger. We recommend you choose a trigger that will calm and relax your mind, this will be more optimal conditions for work. Being relaxed is much easier to start working.

This trigger can be anything that relaxes you, like coffee, tea or meditation, whatever suits you.

Just start.

Once you had set up your routine and triggers in place what is left is only to start your work. If you did all this and don't feel like working 45 minutes straight. Just try to work on it for like 5 minutes, like this, you will be more likely to keep going after the 5 minutes. These 5 minutes will help you build momentum and help you keep going until you reach 45 minutes.

You might also experience 'flow' which is a mental state where you are immersed in an activity and experience hyper focus and also a feeling of enjoyment and satisfaction.

All we say is 'JUST START' doesn't matter if you feel not creative or motivated, once you start tackling your task, the motivation and creativity will follow.

Get rid of distractions.

When you start working you want to maintain your focus for long periods, but how to do that when you get notifications on your phone or email on your laptop. This will be quite hard once you look at your notification you are one step away from the 'rabbit hole' you will wake up 15 minutes later still on social media or email.

So the best method is to turn off your phone, stay away from social media or turn your internet off(unless your task requires internet).

The more you practise this distraction-free work the better your focus will become.

Work without interruption.

Now that you have all these safety measures in place that help you complete your work, all you have to do is work without interruption for the next 45 minutes. However with time, you might want to work a little bit more, we recommend taking 10-15 minutes breaks between your sessions.

Conclusion.

Now that you have these 5 steps to maximise your productivity, just start. These techniques will strengthen your focus, and boost your productivity and you will be more likely to not procrastinate.
